Valerie Goodvibes

Post  Professor Utonium on Sun Sep 25, 2016 12:48 am

Name: Valerie Goodvibes (Goes by surname Verendi)

Age: 21

Ethnicity: Caucasian

Race: Human

Allegiance: Good Guys. Lawful Good for the most part.

Origins: Human

Powers: Valerie has no supernatural/human abilities.

Appearance:

Valerie wears a blue sweater coupled with yellow sleeves. Along with this, she is a fan of jeans in public, with pink and baby blue colored pajamas pants at home. Valerie's face, along with various other areas of her body, is covered in light freckles. She is of average height for a girl her age, as well as the average weight.

Strengths: Valerie has close to a photographic memory. It's very rare that she forgets something, and some would even go as far to nickname her Elephant. It's wise to not tell Valerie any secrets you don't want to be spread, since she will remember it and reveal it if it means to further herself.

While not a physical or mental strength, Valerie has a large net worth due to royalties from all her novels. She will always have the funds to support herself and others, along with more than enough to splurge. However, unlike Princess, she doesn't flaunt her wealth and prefers to live as anyone else.

Valerie has a niche for finding out the truth. You could call her a detective of sorts, but she would never label herself as that. For her the truth is what pushes people forward. Because of this, Valerie can, usually, tell when someone is lying to her or others, and from there she attempts to discover the truth.

Weaknesses: Valerie is not very good at conveying her emotions. Most people see her as cold and distant, yet she's not really that type of person. This restricts her from making more friends than she would like, and forces her to close herself off from others.

Valerie is not a fighter by any means. She has Nanos to keep her safe, but she's never been one to participate in the war herself, nor does she have an interest in joining the war effort anytime soon. She owns a handgun, however she's terrified to use it.

As of her 21st birthday, Valerie's taking a liking to alcoholic beverages. In order to cope with repressed memories of her father and past experiences with animals, she's began to drink her problems away. How does this count as a weakness? Well, being under the influence causes slow reaction times and makes Valerie pretty much useless at times.

Valerie is scared of anthropomorphic animals, and does not enjoy being in the same vicinity of them. However, she usually keeps her mouth shut about her distaste for them.

Personality: Some would describe Valerie as a mystery. She comes off as cold and distant, even borderline rude at some points. In reality, she's a pretty happy person, she just has trouble showing off her positive emotions due to internal conflict with herself. Once you get to know her, she starts to act more human, in which she better expresses her positive thoughts and will start to verbalize her feelings more often. You also probably wouldn't believe that Valerie is pretty optimistic about most situations, but again, she doesn't vocalize this well either. Her hopeful attitude is seen as a pessimistic and stand-off-ish one.

History: Born and raised in the gloomy mists of Endsville, Valerie's childhood wasn't as dark as you'd think. In fact, it was quite great by Endsville's standards. As a kid, Valerie discovered a love for writing, and she'd write cute little fan-fictions about herself, her dog, and her parents. Speaking of which, her parents and her were a perfect family, (the kids these days might even call them #goals). Valerie and her mother bonded over a mutual love of animals, and the two would spend their time together caring for the family dog and doing typical mother-daughter activities.

Valerie and her father used to have a close relationship, and she was even dubbed as Daddy's Little Girl at one point. She'd always turn to her dad for everything, and she looked up to him as a role model and a perfect man. Things took a turn for the worse shortly after Valerie's 7th birthday. Valerie's mother ended up having a miscarriage, sending all three of the Goodvibes into a deep state of depression. Both parents were of course beat up over the fact that they had lost a child, and Valerie, who was super excited to have a younger sibling to care for, didn't quite understand why the baby wasn't coming. The concept of death was new to her, and she had troubles with coming to terms with the fact. During this time period, she started to write more and spend more time with her dog.

Things started looking up once her father got a job as the Principal of the Pokey Oaks school system, but not for long. Principal Goodvibes started to get too invested in his job, neglecting his wife and daughter. Because of this, Valerie's parents eventually filed for divorce. The two, who Valerie viewed as a caring and loving couple, began to hate each other, spewing hate at each other whenever they were in the same vicinity. In one altercation, Valerie's father got physical with her mother, destroying all positive emotions she had towards him. She chose to live with her mother and cut off ties she had with her father. Both her and her mother began to use her mother's maiden name, Verendi.

Entering her teenage years, Valerie began to write large novels dealing with depression and themes of sorrow, mostly in the form of mystery books. It'd be at this time that her dog was starting to die of old age. Both her and her mother tried to spend as much time with their pet as they could, taking him for walks, feeding him human food, and such. One day during a walk, a buff, anthropomorphic dog attacked them, (you might remember this dog from an episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog). Valerie got out of the situation unscathed, but her mother had received a few bruises, and her dog was killed in the process. Her fear of anthropomorphic animals spawned from this traumatic event.

Valerie published her first novel during her sophomore year of high school under the name V.V., and it immediately became a best seller. The royalties she earned from this novel allowed her and her mother to better themselves and support themselves, as the two of them had be struggling at this point. In fact, Valerie released a series of sequels and other stories, all of which became bestsellers and helped the family rack in the cash. Unlike the Morbucks, Valerie and her mother didn't want to be the bratty-wealthy family, and hardly splurged on themselves. Valerie donates most of her wealth to various charities.

During the growth of Valerie's wealth, her father reconnected with her. At this point, his life was in shambles and he was living out of the back of his car. He did want to fix the relationship he had with his daughter, but also wanted to cash in on her wealth and help himself get back up on his feet. Valerie had no interest in reconnecting with him, nor did she had an interest in sharing her money with him. She still continues to ignore him.

Valerie used Fuse's invasion as a source of inspiration for a new series of books detailing the life of a young girl attempting to live a normal life while aliens invade the Earth. Of course, these novels were bestsellers as well, except for the conclusion to the series. In the final book, the protagonist of her story dies and the aliens successfully take over the Earth. Valerie began to receive backlash for this ending, some people going as far as dubbing her as an "Earth-hater" and saying that she was actually on Fuse's side. Luckily, Valerie never put her real name on any of her works, so she could still live without fear. The author persona of V.V. was ditched after this novel, turning to use Valerie Verendi as her name on further novels she released.

Valerie currently lives alone in Endsville, right next door to her mother's home, where she lives with her boyfriend, a man Valerie calls her father. She's in the process of writing another book.

Do you use Nanos: Yes.

Valerie is up for review!

Don't fret about her direct relation to Principal Goodvibes. He is not listed in the list of families OCs cannot be directly related to.

Really well written history. Can't find a problem, so I'll approve.
